Jagannath University in Dhaka, Bangladesh, is a government-sponsored public university. This university is located in Sadarghat. Though the Jagannath University received the status of a university in 2005, but, it has a long enough historical background as one of the premiere educational institution since 1858. This institution was initially formed in the name of ‘Dhaka Brahma School’. In 1984, the status of the by then Dhaka Brahma School was upgraded to higher secondary college. Later, its status was further revised when Honours and Masters level education programs were initiated in this institution. The higher secondary education programs continued in this institution nearly for a century (92 years) until it was officially closed in 1982. Finally, in 2005, the Jagannath College was granted with the full status of a university. Now, the Jagannath University is one of the best universities in Bangladesh.  

Academics:
Now the Jagannth University has 28 departments under 4 faculties. Every department of this university follows semester system. At present 359 teachers are engaged in providing quality education of around 25000 students in diverse field.
