Chittagong Travel Guide

The district of Chittagong has its special significance in the Bangladesh tourism industry. It is among one of the best vacation destination in the country. The Chittagong district is situated at the southern region of Bangladesh. The total area of Chittagong is 33771 sq. km with a population of 23.99 lakhs. There are 11 districts and 38 municipalities in Chittagong.

The city of Chittagong is one of the most preferred sea beach vacation destinations to the world tourists and domestic travelers. This is because of its hills, lush green nature, forest, miles long sandy golden sea beach. The attractiveness of this better described by a Chinese travel writer in the 7th century A.D, as "a sleeping beauty emerging from mists and water" and given the title of "Porto Grande" by the 16th century Portuguese sea travelers.

Chittagong is well known for the second largest town in Bangladesh. This town is adjacent to the Bay of Bengal.  Again, Chittagong has the biggest seaport in Bangladesh.  This place is located at a distance of 264 km from the capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka and very famous for the low height hills, natural beauties, and for the great sea beach. Chittagong is also famous for being the town of the Muslim saint’s familiar as the Aulias.  

The great observations made by the ancient travelers, writers for the city of Chittagong remains in the present days too. Coming to this place, everyone feels the great nature and its many attractions which not differed from the ancient quotes. It’s a wonderful place in combination of a highly active port with the mountains standing nearby.

The two most spectacular buildings of these places are the Qadam Mubarak Mosque and the Shahi Jama-e-Masjid. Besides these the Ethnological Museum in the Chittagong town is a must visit place.  There are plenty of scenic beauties and mind soothing breezes coming down from Fairy Hill in the British City in the northwestern of Chittagong.

Chittagong is the main port in Bangladesh. This is also the prime location for heavy, medium, and small scale industries. The only steel manufacturing workshop and the oil refineries are also located in Chittagong. Finally, Chittagong is a vacation destination to the international and domestic travellers as well as one of the rich industrial districts in Bangladesh.
